Transvaginal Mesh Helpline and support group

Jewish lawyer network launches an online support group for women experiencing complications from the surgical mesh. "Tell us your story and communicate online with other women." Lisa Spitzer MSW who runs the Trans vaginal mesh helpline has heard many "horror stories"

"It is important for woman to share their stories and find a support from others " The emotional and physical ramifications of these Transvaginal Mesh surgical implants are severe" "The helpline assits women in locating a lawyer but, there is more to this then just legal advise and filing a class action lawsuit" Monetary damages cannot reverse some of the life changing stories I am hearing" There are damaging physical and psychological effects from this surgical procedure that are far reaching. Many women cannot have sexual intercourse as a result of this mesh surgical procedure which can effect the stability of a marriage. Others canot drive a car any longer, visit and play with their grandchildren or take part in the joys of life the mesh was promised to help with.

In one situation:

What was supposed to be a simple surgery to relieve bloating and constipation turned into a living nightmare for a woman .

The many stories are all reporting the same things: , urinary complications, constant pain, re-prolapse,urinary incontinence, inability to sit and drive a car, inability to hacve sexual intercourse, men feeling the scratching

"It's horrible. " We hear from women daily. Many have lost faith in their physicians. The support helpline is also seeking Physicians interested in reviewing medical documents regarding our callers issues.Unfortunately many ob-gyns are seemingly afraid themselves as a controversy continues.

The recent meeting of the FDA and various manufactures and Physicians appears to be moving to new warnings. Women must speak up and be heard.

The stories of pain and suffering we hear on a daily basis are horrific.

The following are problems linked to transvaginal mesh:

Bleeding
Infection
Mesh erosion through the vagina
Organ perforation
Pain
Pain during sexual intercourse
Urinary problems

There have also been reports of recurring prolapse, vaginal scarring, vaginal shrinkage, and emotional problems related to the vaginal mesh. These complications often result in a patient requiring additional treatment, including surgery and further hospitalization.

The mesh helped keep the organs in place, but indications are that the transvaginal mesh harmed more than it helped. Some women who had the vaginal mesh surgery using it have reported "painful sexual intercourse, infections, urinary problems, overall discomfort, and bleeding, usually from the mesh eroding through the stitched tissue or from skin contracting tightly around it." Last year, 75,000 women had the vaginal form of the corrective surgery, and in the past two years, adverse event reports to the FDA have quintupled.

The FDA has also received reports that three women died in connection with the vaginal mesh surgery, and several other women are suing the device makers. One of their transvaginal mesh lawyers, who represents 75 patients, told the Globe, "It is unfortunate that the FDA came to these conclusions after all these people get hurt.''

If you would like to share your story we would like to hear from you. If you have complications from the prolapse mesh, surgical mesh implants
